THE PURPOSE
If you are studying for the SAT, the PSAT, the ACT, the Englaish Language and Composition AP test, the GRE, or the GMAT, or if you are simply interested in improving your vocabulary and applying the rules of standard American English to your use of grammar and diction, Celebrity English will prove to be both educational and entertaining.
THE CONTENT
We feature basic instruction, examples of diction, and mnemonic devices for learning and remembering vocabulary words.
Our content features information and quotes from actors, television stars, musicians, authors, internet personalities, and famous heiresses.
We also have songs available for download. The mp3s on this site are for instructional and evaluative purposes only, and we hope that you will enjoy learning as you listen and that you will support the artists if you like their music!
THE PEDANTRY
The quotes on this site are taken from interviews with celebrities and messages written by celebrities on their websites.
We realize that many of the expressions and much of the syntax we are calling “errors” are common colloquialisms , generally accepted idioms, and language considered by many grammarians to be correct. The primary purpose of this site is to help students prepare for American college and graduate school examinations; the writers of these tests adhere to the strictest rules of American standard written English, and our corrections reflect these rules. We also aim to assist those people who are interested in learning these standard rules.
We are always interested to hear people’s views about language and we welcome comments on our content. We hope you will share your experiences with language so that others can benefit from your perspective.
